            ① GreenThread

SaaS platform that empowers apparel designers, businesses, and manufacturers to make sustainable material decisions early in the product lifecycle. GreenThread helps users compare materials,  analyze life cycle assessment (LCA) metrics, and make informed sourcing decisions based on environmental impact, sourcing location, and supplier data.

USER RESEARCH
Why aren’t users converting?

While first-time users found the interface appealing and were able to navigate the platform with some guidance, data showed significant drop-off after second-time users reopened the app. Users explored the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) feature but abandoned the process before generating a report. The complexity of the report combined with lack of in-app education discouraged further engagement.

EVALUATING THE EXISTING SETUP FLOW

The existing flow presents data users with dense data fields and technical terms, assuming prior sustainability design knowledge.
No guided explanation or simplified entry points exist to ease users into the feature. I identified
two touchpoints within the existing setup flow where metrics were low, contributing to the overall low conversion.

User  Pain Points

Through user interviews with new GreenThread users to identify their pain points in the two touchpoints.

TASKBAR ENGAGEMENT

"It feels like I’m using a design tool made for professionals. There are so many buttons and icons. I don’t know what any of them do or where to begin."

The workspace resembles traditional vector graphics editors, which come with a steep learning curve. Users struggle to locate essential tools and collaborate efficiently.

USER EDUCATION FLOW

"I started customizing a pair of jeans, but then I wasn’t sure if I was halfway done or just at the beginning."

Users enter the report experience unsure of what the steps are, how much they’ve completed, or what’s left to do. This ambiguity leads to early abandonment and a decreased motivation to finish the report.

THE SOLUTION

Improving the overall onboarding experience

01. TACKLING LOW TASKBAR ENGAGEMENT

Taskbar redesigned for clearer navigation

02. BOOSTING REPORT COMPLETION

Guided tutorial with progress indicators to improve task completion

THE SOLUTION: REPORTS LANDING PAGE

A dynamic breakdown of sustainable decision-making

  •        A/B Testing at Adobe

Our teammate Matt (Graphic Design) brought our prototype to his workplace at Adobe to gather feedback from seasoned industry veterans and interns. One major issue was the lack of clarity about how long setup would take—users didn’t know how many steps were involved or where they were in the process.

We solved this by introducing a guided onboarding system with clearly marked progress indicators and a step-by-step breakdown, giving users more confidence in the product and orientation throughout the flow.

  • KEY SOLUTIONS

01. Dashboard & Library
Organizing teams and tools in one smart workspace

The dashboard brings together communication, tutorials, and asset management—making it easy for teams to stay aligned while exploring sustainable materials.

Users can collaborate, track time, access version history, and learn directly through built-in guides.

02. Workspace
Designing through one intuitive canvas

  • The workspace guides users through the full product
  • development flow from onboarding to 3D visualization.
  • With AI-powered suggestions, real time order summaries,
  • and multi-view material previews, teams can move from
  • idea to execution.

03. Life Cycle Assesment
Quantifying sustainability with clarity and confidence

This module lets users compare materials side by side using real
    time LCA scores.

With rich visualizations, FAQ support, and downloadable
reports, GreenThread simplifies complex environmentaldata into actionable insights for smarter sourcingdecisions.

② Biophilic Playground

Designing immersive,
nature-oriented play through Biomimicry

As part of my DMA154 course, I had the opportunity to work closely with esteemed professor and designer Rebeca Méndez to explore how biomimicry and sustainable design can reimagine children’s play spaces. Together, we developed the proposal for Anthill, a Glen Park Elementary playground in my Bay Area community.

Today’s playgrounds often rely on synthetic, uniform structures that do little to spark imagination or connect children to the natural world.

We set out to challenge that.

Inspired by the underground networks and passive ventilation systems of anthills, we proposed a nature-integrated playground that invites exploration, wonder, and learning through movement.

Plans and Drawings

The design responds to Glen Park Elementary’s sloped site by optimizing vertical occupation and visual connections to the surrounding neighborhood, while preserving pre-existing structures. Careful attention was given to access points for drop-off and pick-up, sunlight orientation, site circulation, and traffic patterns.
